Preparation key to D’Tigers success at FIBA World Cup, Niger Potters coach says

Adamu Kuta, Coach of Niger Potters basketball team, on Friday expressed confidence in the capability of Nigeria’s men’s national basketball team to lift the Afrobasket trophy the second time.

Kuta made the assertion in an interview with our reporter in Abuja while speaking on the expectations of Nigerians from the team.

He said: “D’Tigers will validate Nigeria’s leadership role in basketball in the both men and women categories at the biennial tournament.

“Remember we are current champions in both the male and female categories.

“Our women in Mali last month lifted the women’s trophy of Afrobasket and I believe our men will do same,’’ Kuta said.

The coach, who restated his optimism in the ability of Nigeria’s men’s basketball team to repeat their 2015 feat, described the nation as a giant in basketball.

He therefore, urged the Alex Nwora-tutored boys to go all out in crushing their opponents for a lasting reign in African basketball.

Afrobasket is a biennial basketball tournament played by African countries under the auspices of the International Federation of Basketball Association (FIBA).

The 2017 edition which dunked off on Sept. 8 and will end on Sept. 16 is being co-hosted by Tunisia and Senegal.
