As its contribution towards the fight against cancer in Nigeria, leading telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria, has announced its support to a cancer awareness initiative tagged ‘eRace Cancer. ‘

Organised by the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to sensitise members of the public on cancer and also raise awareness on early prevention of the disease, the ‘eRace Cancer’ is a 5-kilometre race scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 14th 2016 at Muri-Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Commenting on the telco’s support to the initiative, Director of Corporate Communications & CSR, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Emeka Oparah, said Airtel Nigeria is committed to partnering with credible organizations and platforms to improve the quality of lives of Nigerians.

According to him, Airtel’s support to the ‘eRace Cancer’ is demonstration of its commitment to Nigerians, noting that Health intervention is one the key pillars of Airtel’s CRS programmes.

The race, which is open only to employees of corporate organisations, will kick off at 6: 00 am.  Each participating organisations is expected to form a team of 5 staff who will contest in the race.

According to the organisers, funds raised from the programme will be used to purchase Mobile Cancer Centres (MCCs) designed to conduct cancer screening and treatment programme across the country.

This year’s programme is the 3rd Edition of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Corporate Challenge.
