Akoko youths dumps Akeredolu, drum supports for Oke, AD
..says we refuse to be blinded by ethnicity
Akoko Youth Alliance (AYA) a political movement which supported Rotimi Akeredolu candidacy in 2012 has declared it’s support for the Alliance for Democracy and it’s leading aspirant Olushola Oke.
The youth group which had in 2012 governorship election supported and campaigned for Akeredolu against Olusegun Mimiko however said they are supporting Oko’s ambition based on conviction and principle, insisting that Akeredolu’s ambition has lost focus.
AYA in a statement after an emergency all inclusive general meeting held in Irun Akoko on Sunday, said it resolve to shun ethnicity and tribal sentiment in taking its decision.
The statement signed by it publicity secretary Ayokunle Oloye said the meeting resolve to support Olushola Oke candidacy after deliberating on agendas of all contenders in the forth coming governorship election.
He said the decision to support Olushola Oke is for the betterment and growth of Akoko region and entire state.
The group said Oke has always been supportive of young people and youth initiatives in the state.
The youths said their new goal is ensuring total victory for Olushola Oke in the Gubernatorial Election, stressing that it’s has mapped out strategic plans to embarked on door to door campaign for Oke’s candidacy.
“We have begin to mobilize youths and voters in Akoko Land and entire Ondo North Senatorial district to ensure support for Olushola Oke.
“We believe Ondo state under Olushola Oke will move us from the years
Our state is in dire need of a leader that will provide purposeful leadership, delivers quality dividends of democracy these qualities must not be traded on the alter of ethnicity. We must shun ethnics bigots packaging deceits and lies for young people in our region.
“We are supporting Olushola Oke because of his agenda and popularity among young people across the state. We believe in him for a greater Ondo state and we know he will deliver his promises because of his track record of integrity.”
