Al-makura to renovate more schools in 2017

Al-Makura begins senatorial campaign, drums support for Buhari, others

Gov.Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State says the state government will build and renovate more primary and secondary schools before the end of 2017.

Al-makura made the promise in Garaku, the headquarters of Kokona Local Government Area of the state at the 34th enthronement anniversary of Dr Sylvester Ayih as the Abaga Toni of Toni Chiefdom.

He expressed the optimism that the promise would translate to improvement in the standard of education in the state.

Al-Makura, represented by his Deputy, Mr Silas Agara, described 2017 as a year of transformation, stressing that “we are going to double the numbers of schools that were renovated in 2016.’’

He congratulated the monarch on his anniversary and for his wealth of experience in ensuring peace and unity in Gwandara nation, the state and the country at large.

The Governor also commended the monarch for his contribution to the development of the education sector in the state.

“I urge all of us to pray for God’s guidance, protection and long life for the paramount rulers as they are custodians of people’s culture, tradition and peace.

“The state government will embark on massive construction of schools in 2017.

“What we have done and achieved so far which have imparted on the lives of our children and other citizens is a tip of an ice berg.

“Also, the bridges and culverts that you have seen is a tip of an ice berg as you are going to see the renovation of more culverts, more roads and more clinics, among others

“This is aimed at connecting rural communities and to improve on the health of the people,” he said.

He also said his administration had transformed the education, agriculture, economic, health, judicial, commercial among other sectors.

According to him, the effort is toward fighting poverty, hunger, unemployment as well as boosting the socio-economic development of the state.

Al-Makura urged the people of the state in particular and Nigerians in general to continue to pray for and support President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders to enable them to succeed.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s continued commitment to policies and programmes with direct bearing on the lives of people of the state.

He, therefore, solicited the people’s support to enable him succeed.
Earlier, Mr Musa Namo, the Chairman, Interim Management Committee of the council, said that the programme was organised to thank God for the life of the monarch.

He thanked God for protecting and guiding the monarch and making Ayih to clock 34 years on throne.

He promised that the council would continue to partner with the traditional institution to promote peace and development in the state.

Responding, Ayih also thanked God for making him alive to celebrate his 34 years on throne.

He said that he would continue to preach peace to his subjects and Nigerians at large for the overall development of the country.

It was reported that the occasion brought together politicians, traditional rulers, religious leaders.

Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the first Executive Governor of the state, Rep. Jonathan Gaza, among others also made the list of dignitaries at the occasion.
