The Chairmanship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Jalingo local government Alhaji Aminu Liman on Monday pledged to tackle poor waste management if elected in the Feb.11 council polls.

Liman told newsmen in Jalingo that the high volume of liquid and solid waste in the council area was a threat to the health and well- being of the general public.

The APC candidate who cited the chocking smell emitting daily as a result of liquid waste in Jalingo abattoir as hazardous to health, stressed that, if elected, he would evacuate the waste within his early days in office.

Liman noted that residents of Sabon-gari, where the abattoir was located, had always decried the offensive smell, water pollution and outbreak of strange diseases caused by the waste.

The chairmanship hopeful whose campaign hinges on social re–orientation, economic revitalisation and infrastructure resurgence, said he would liaise with relevant agencies to rid the council off heaps of refuse on the streets.

On youth empowerment, Liman promised to provide opportunities for skills acquisition training to the youths so that they could become well equipped for job opportunities.

The London- trained -financial- expert, said he would promote entrepreneurship by providing soft and interest free loans to the people to raise their income levels, even as he pledged to reposition the council’s motor parks, cemeteries, markets, public toilets, among others, if elected.
