Arts, culture will cement relationship among Nigerians – Sen. Adeyemi

Sen. Smart Adeyemi, who represented Kogi West in the Senate, on Sunday advised the Federal Government to use arts and culture to cement relationship among Nigerians and promote national unity.

Adeyemi gave the advice in an address at the closing ceremony of the 2017 African Arts and Craft Expo held in Abuja.

“Apart from the game of football, it is only arts and culture that can actually cement and promote the unity and diversity of Nigeria.

“Effort must be made to promote arts and culture, because I believe that with arts and culture we can promote unity and oneness.

“I believe that our pride is in our size and diversity; I do not want to imagine Nigeria without the Igbos, Calabars, Ijaws, people from Kano, Sokoto or Borno and others

“Therefore I call on government at all levels and every Nigerian to use arts and culture to cement relationship among us and to also promote unity in our diversity,” Adeyemi said.

He also called for investment in arts and culture to create employment, adding that government focus on the creative industry create employment and generate wealth.

Adeyemi called on the National Council for Arts and Culture to collaborate with the Kogi Government to exploit the state’s untapped potentials in tourism, arts and craft.

According to him, the administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello is committed to taking arts and craft to a new level.
