Big Brother Naija: Funke Akindele says housemate Gifty, a pretender

Talented Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele Bello on Thursday referred to one of the Big Brother Naija’s housemates, Gifty as a pretender.

Bello, also known as Jenifa tweeted on her handle @funkeakindele “I just watched the clip now. She is obviously a liar who needs attention. How can she say she doesn’t know Falz and Banky W?

Newsverge reports that three Nigerian celebrities, including Emmanuel Ikubese, Falz and Banky W recently visited the housemates in South Africa.

During her diary session, Gifty said she doesn’t know any of these celebrities.

Newsverge also reports that reactions had continued to trail Bello’s tweet.

Zozoka1@Buyiswamakasi tweeted “…Gifty is just plain and blonde’’.

Genesis Uzeshi tweeted @genesisUzeshi “…won’t be surprise if she (Gifty) doesn’t know funke akindele,’’.

@dexestudios said “am sure Gifty doesn’t know Funke and Tinubu too.’’

Similarly, @OlabisiMustapha tweeted, “@funkeakindele yes Gifty is seeking for attention and at the same time downgrading our artists. Please everything Gifty has said, add it to Jenifa’s diary.’’

Boluwatife Magic also tweeted, “we go soon hear say, she knows nothing about Nigeria…she is so out of the game #bbnaija.

Newsverge reports that Bello was born on Aug. 24, 1976 at Ikorodo, Lagos State.

The movie producer obtained her National Diploma in Mass Communication from the former Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and got a law degree from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba.

She came to limelight after featuring in popular United Nations Population Fund sponsored sitcom; ‘I Need to Know,’ which ran from 1998 to 2002.

Her film “Jenifa’’ which debuted in 2008 took the African Entertainment industry by storm; it received four nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Award in same year.

Bello, popularly called Jenifa got married to Kehinde Oloyede in 2012 and in 2013, the marriage hit the rocks.

In 2016, she got married to a rapper, Rasheed Bello popularly known as JJC.

She runs a Non Governmental Organisation known as `The Jenifa Foundation’, aimed at nurturing talents and acquiring vocational skills.

Jenifa has a lot of endorsement deals to her name, the most recent is her being signed on as an Ambassador to Irokotv.

She had acted in many Yoruba and English movies and soaps and won several awards.

In 2009, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress leading role.

Her movie series `Jenifa’s Diary’ which features Nigerian rapper, Falz won the 2016 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award and the Entertainment TV Programme of the year at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

Also, she won `Best Actress African Collaboration’ in the film `A Trip to Jamaica at the 2016 Ghana Movies Awards and `Best Actress of the Year’ at the 2016 African Entertainment Legend Awards.

She also won `Sitcom of the Year’ and `Best Actress in Comedy’ at the 2016 Naija Fm Awards.

The talented actress had won many awards in 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2010.
