Bindow flags-off distribution of education materials to schools in Adamawa

Bindow declares 3-day mourning over death of Chief of Staff

Gov. Muhammadu Bindow of Adamawa has flagged-off distribution of text books, beds, chemicals and other educational materials to secondary schools in the state.

Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday in Mubi, Bindow said that his administration was committed to reviving education in the state and that was why it declared a state of emergency in education.

“My administration is ready to compromise anything for education; with the meagre resources available to us, we are going to do our best for education,” Bindow said.

Bindow, who also spoke on the need for qualified teachers, said there would be training and retraining of teachers.

He said that his administration had revived the Teachers College in the state to address the problem of qualified teachers from the root.

He said his administration inherited seven months primary school teachers salary arrears and had so far settled those of six months.

In his welcome address, the state Commissioner for Education, Mr Julius Kadala, said the materials supplied under the first phase were for 42 secondary schools.

“There is also chemicals for 10 schools laboratories as well as over 2000 beds and mattresses for technical school, Mubi, and GSS, Hong.”

The Emir of Mubi, Alhaji Isa Abubakar, who spoke on the value of eduction, tasked principals and teachers on proper utilisation of the materials provided.
