The Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Rev. Felix Femi Ajakaye, has identified indiscipline as the major problem in the country, adding that corruption is the first born of indiscipline in Nigeria.
Ajakaye, called on the leadership of Nigeria, when fighting corruption to shun media prosecution, because it will lead the nation to nowhere.
Bishop Ajakaye, made the remarks at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, in Ado-Ekiti, during a public presentation and launch of his book.
“Beyond Ideas”, held at the Akinyede Momorial Hall, at the weekend.
The cleric also called on the Federal Government not to discard the recommendation of the 2014 Confab report, saying “we need to re-visit it, adding that the report would make our country, Nigeria a better place”.
The bishop noted that the book “Beyond Ideas”, is for positive and concrete actions, for a new dawn for Nigeria and Nigerians in all our dealings with one another, saying, we need to face meaningful actions rather than chasing shadow in all our actions.
Bishop Ajakaye, noted that “Nigeria must not fall, Nigeria must not fail, according to him, if Nigeria fall or fail, we have fallen and failed as a people”.
In his speech, the Minister of Mines and Steel, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, while unveiling and presenting the book to the public said the Bishop Ajakaye’s latest work is of creativity, knowledge and reflection, adding that character and attitude talks everything in the book, noted that knowledge without character is meaningless to the society.
In his speech at the occasion, the Archbishop of Ibadan and the metropolitan of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Gabriel Abegunrin, called on Nigerians to talk positively, think positively and cat positively, so that all of us in Nigeria would make the world a better place.
The Reviewer of the book, Prof. Isaac N. Obasi, from the University of Abuja, said the cleric remains us that God-given intellectual gifts of many Nigerians must be used for the betterment of our society, otherwise our knowledge and great ideas would be useless to the generations coming after us.
Prof. Obasi, pointed out that Beyond Ideas is also a gentle protest and criticism against the prevailing governance crisis in Nigeria.
In his conclusion, the book is for all Nigerians regardless of age, gender, educational qualification, ethnicity, religion, location and political party affiliation. He pointed out that it touches the heart of every Nigerians particularly lovers of social justice in present day Nigeria where pervasive corruption in the governance sphere is alarming.
Beyond Ideas has six parts which include religion, socio-political issues, sports, talks, interviews and others.
The ceremony was attended by Rev. Frs., the religious, traditional ruler, friends and well-wishers of Bishop Ajakaye, both within and outside, including former Governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, represented by Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, as chairman of the occasion.
