Bank of Industries (BoI) in partnership with Africa Community Bridge Foundation (ACBF) on Friday concluded training of 100 youths drawn from Adamawa and Taraba on job creation through entrepreneurship skills in Jalingo.
Zonal Manager of the bank in charge of Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba Mr. Dahiru Bala who presented certificates to the trainees at the closing ceremony of the three weeks training in Jalingo urged them to take the programme seriously.
He noted that the training was designed by the Federal Government to give the participating youths skills in finance, marketing, sells, business laws among others to enable them create jobs with small businesses.
The Manager explained that the beneficiaries would be given loans by the bank to go into various trades, thereby getting themselves employed and creating jobs for other graduates in the process.
“This training is part of federal government deliberate policy to create jobs through entrepreneurship skills for it teaming unemployed graduates.
“We are training you not just to be self-employed but to also be employers of labour as you assess the loan and begin your businesses,” he said.
Bala explained that the loans would be paid in the period of three years when it is expected that the business must have gained grounds to sustain itself.
He urged other youths under 35 years of age across the country to apply online to benefit from the training and the loan from BOI to grow the nation’s economy.
The Programme Director, Africa Community Bridge Foundation Dr. Lucky Onmony in a speech urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use the skills acquired at the training.
Onmony said the 10 facilitators at the training were drawn from the Lagos Business School and had great experience in their chosen topics.
Commissioner for Commerce and Industries commended the federal government for the iniative, saying it would go a long way in tackling the unemployment crisis in the country.
Represented by Alhaji Umar Bambur, Ajibu said the state government was ever ready to support the programme in all ways possible to succeed.
Responding on behave of the trainees, Mr. Kumachivir Iorkohol thanked the BoI for the programme, noting that the idea was a sign that the federal government was really committed to tackling unemployment and taking the country out of the current economic recession.
