A pressure group known as Concerned Taraba Tiv Youth Frontier (CTTYF) on Sunday called on the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to quickly arrest Senator Yusuf A. Chairman of the group, Mr. Goodman Dan Dahida who made the call at a press briefing in Jalingo on Sunday said instead of senator Yusuf (APC) Taraba central to support his counterpart Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP) Taraba south to ensure security of the people of Taraba, he chose to play politics with the lives of the people.

Dahida explained that on a daily basis, strange people were massively coming to the state from far northern states, noting that the commissioner of police has confirmed the influx of strange people on several times to journalists in the state.

According to him, the commissioner told journalist last Friday that due to heavy bombardment going on in the neighbouring Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states there were influx of people to Taraba which is relatively peaceful.

“These strange people coming to Taraba in droves are dangerous, they have killed about 23 people in Bali and injured many others. They are practically taking over Taraba and security agencies must team up to flush them.

“You all know that Taraba in the past two years was badly affected by crisis in central and southern zones and many people were displaced. These strange people have taken over the houses of the displaced people in Bali, Gassol, Wukari and Ibi local governments and are resisting any attempt by the original inhabitants to return.

“Now that senator Yusuf is is defending them and lying against the commissioner of police that the commissioner told him there were no influx of people to Taraba, the IGP Solomon Arase should arrest him for questioning. He might be the brain behind their coming for reasons we do not know,” he said.

The group commended senator Emmanuel Bwacha for opening up on the issue and urged him not to be distracted by Yusuf’s provocative statement aimed at diminishing his personality even as they commended governor Darius Ishaku for his commitment in ensuring a peaceful Taraba since his emergence as governor.

It could be recalled that senator Yusuf had last Thursday during plenary challenged senator Emmanuel Bwacha’s point of order drawing the attention of security agencies to the report of the influx of strange people to Taraba.

Yusuf said he called the Commissioner of Police and State Director of the Department of State Service (DSS) who confirmed to him that there were no influx of Boko Haram members into the state.
