Business Journal: Stakeholders to proffer solution to insurance challenges

Insurance stakeholders, comprising of insurance industry’s regulators and operators, are expected to converge at the2nd edition of Business Journal Insurance Summit 2016 scheduled for November 17, 2016, in Lagos, to proffer solutions to challenges facing the insurance industry in the country.

A statement by Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Business Journal, Prince Cookey, said the summit would be the single largest gathering of insurance regulators, operators, professionals, media and allied professions to examine critical issues affecting sustainable growth of the insurance sector in Nigeria.

According to him, “Following the great success of the maiden edition of the summit, the 2016 event promises to be an even greater outing in view of the line-up of distinguished speakers, the topics for discussion and the enthusiastic response from stakeholders in the insurance industry.”

He said the Insurance Consumers Association of Nigeria [INSCAN] and Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria [ARIAN] will lead discussion at the Open Forum session, while the summit will discuss topics, such as, ‘The Role of PR in Growing Insurance Business in Nigeria; ‘CONSUMERS: Kings or Servants in Insurance’; ‘The Importance of Agents in Insurance Business’; among others, even as the theme of the summit is ‘Managing Risks in a Depressed Economy: The Case of Nigeria.’

The Commissioner for Insurance, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Alhaji Mohammed Kari, is billed as the Special Guest of Honour for the forum and the Director-General, Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Mr. O. Sunday Thomas, is expected to chair the event, with Dr. Phil Osagie, Global Lead Strategist, JSP Communications Limited, as the Distinguished Guest Speaker.
