CACOL lauds Final Passage of 2018 National Budget
The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL as one of its activities in observing the Lagos State Local government elections billed for tomorrow, has created a hash-tag –#CacolElectionsSituationRoom for the purposes of monitoring and observing the long awaited poll.

Mr. Debo Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of CACOL while revealing the development, said “CACOL within the ambit of its commitment to anti-corruption and open leadership found it pertinent to monitor and observe the Local government elections holding on Saturday in Lagos state to enhance transparency and openness in the process.”

“It behooves on all genuine democrats to take decisive steps to quash the diabolic bids by anti-democratic elements that are constantly hell-bent on subverting the democratization process in Lagos state in particular and the country, Nigeria in general.” He added

“The prerequisite need for citizens to be eternally vigilant and alert all through the electoral processes is very imperative to forestall opaqueness and other manipulations in the LG election.”

“We call on the general public to follow us on the twitter handle – @cacolnaigeria, where we shall be sharing updates from our CACOL’s Observers on the field and other credible civil society organizations. We call on Lagos electorates and other organized observer CSOs to twitter under the hash-tag – #CacolElectionsSituationRoom. Live updates will also be happening simultaneously of our FaceBook page – cacolnigeria and Instagram – cacolnigeria. Our phone lines are also for sms and calls – 08141121208 and 07082147742 for whataspp.”

“This is our way of expressing solidarity with Lagos state electorates going through the electioneering process and also a way of ensuring that there is credible evidence on the basis of which it is possible to evaluate, assess and report on the credibility of the elections in terms of whether they meet the minimum thresholds of democratic   participation.” Adeniran concluded
