The Parish Priest of St. Peters Monkin in the Catholic Diocese of Jalingo, Rev. Fr. Charles Nyameh on Sunday challenged treasury looters to return stolen funds and assets to government coffers in order to enjoy God’s mercies.
Rev. Nyameh who use the story of Zachaeus a rich tax collector who climbed a tree only to see Jesus and after his encounter with Christ returned four times what he stole as a tax collector, urged treasury looters to emulate him.
“Zachaeus encounter with Jesus led to his repentance and his promise to make restitutions of what he stole from others.
“Our public and political servants who know they acquire their wealth in a corrupt manner should follow Zachaeus example and make restitutions of what they stole from our collective wealth.
“God will not let go all those who stole our resources and corruptly enrich themselves. God is calling on all of us to make restitutions of our wrong actions to enjoy his mercies,” he said.
He urged people to endeavour to make restitutions on injury and other damages caused others and make amends in their way of life for a better society.
The cleric reminded the congregation that God sees every human action, urging all to avail themselves for a proper encounter with God.
