The Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service has confirmed it made about N130m income in the month of September alone.
This confirmation was made by the Controller General in charge of the Zone, Umar Dahiru while speaking with journalists in Ikeja, Lagos.
He said his men intercepted various prohibited items in about 98 different seizures in the course of the month.
According to the Customs boss, the service also recovered about N30m from owners of vehicles and other items who attempted to beat the system at the sea port and birder stations.
He then advised smugglers who usually see the ’ember’ months as peak period to stop the illegal acts as his command will not rest on his oars.
Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service covers Apapa, Tin-Can Island, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, Lilypond, Lagos Industrial Area, Seme, Ogun, Oyo/Osun, and Ondo/Ekiti.
