The Police in Osun Police on Monday said it was able to successfully disperse Osun University students protesting the death of their colleague who died at a hospital due to alleged neglect by the hospital staff.

In a press statement by the Police Public Relation Officer, Mrs Folashade Odoro, the students at about 11.05 on Monday gathered in front of Oke-Baale Central Hospital in Osogbo, protesting the demise of their colleague.

She said the demise student, one Miss Odeyinka Feyisara, 19, a 100 Level Student of the Department of Anatomy was alleged to have died in the hospital due to poor handling in treatment.

She said the hospital authority however, dispel the allegation stating that the deceased had earlier been brought to the hospital on Sunday, where she was treated and advised to be admitted.

She said against the hospital’s advice, the deceased declined to be admitted, only for her to be brought back on Monday in a critical condition and that all effort to resuscitate her proved futile.

She said the Osun University Vice Chancellor and his Management team had appealed and called for calmness from the students, while they have remove the corpse of the student from the hospital.

In a related development, the School Management has called on all the students of the Osogbo campus of the institution, to leave the school premises and go to their various home with immediate effect.

Some students of the Osun State University, Osogbo Campus, went on rampage on Monday, and threaten to burn down Oke-Baale Central Hospital due to what they termed poor treatment handling of their colleague which led to her death.

Similarly, the students of the school went on rampage on Saturday, where they blocked the flow of vehicular and human movements within Osogbo after two of their colleagues were shot by policemen on the allegation that they were internet fraudsters.
