Easter: FRSC commences 24-hour special patrol in Ogun

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun on Monday said it had commenced 24 hours special patrol in the state to ease traffic ahead of the Easter period.

Mr Clement Oladele, the State Sector Commander of the Corps, said in a statement on Monday in Ota that the special patrol started on April 8 and would end on April 18.

He said a total of 360 personnel, comprising regular officers and Marshals, as well as 410 Special Marshals, had been deployed in various locations in the state to check excesses of motorists.

The sector commander said that 25 patrol vehicles, five ambulances and four patrol motor bikes had also been deployed to ease traffic along the critical corridors.

Oladele said camps had been set up at J3, along Ijebu-Ode–Ore Expressway, and Mowe, along Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, as part of efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow during the festive period.

He said the FRSC had also contacted the Ogun State Ambulance Services for deployment of the state government ambulances during the period.

“More so, the network of private tow trucks in the state will be available to clear any obstructions during this period,’’ he said.

Christians had on Sunday held processions in parts of the country to mark Palm Sunday ahead of the Good Friday and Easter celebrations which come up from Friday to Monday.

Easter is a period when Christians commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death.

Many, apart from going to places of worship, use the holidays declared on Good Friday and Easter Monday to travel, visit recreation centres and loved ones, among other activities.
