Lamorde cautions travellers on use of credit card for air tickets

Ibrahim Lamorde, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday cleared the agency of any wrongdoing despite reports of systematic torture during interrogation of suspects in its facility.

“The EFCC follows the rule of law; our statements are recorded and are not taken under duress”, according to a statement credited to the EFCC boss and signed by its spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren.

“Our rooms have cameras in them and the state-of-the-art recording facilities in the EFCC interrogation rooms will not allow any interrogator to humiliate a suspect,” the statement quoted Lamorde as saying.

Lamorde stated this during a visit to the commission by officials of Amnesty International.
