Taraba Justice Initiative (TJI) on Tuesday commended President Mohammadu Buhari for finding justice Paul Adamu Galinje worthy of appointment as Supreme Court judge.

President of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Auta at a press conference in Jalingo also commended the Nigeria senate for confirming the appointment of justice Galinje despite efforts by some people to stop his confirmation.

Hon. John Tobi Yarafa and others wrote a petition to the senate against the confirmation of Justice Galinje alleging that he once bribed Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi a former Taraba Acting Governor to influence the choice of his candidate as the chief of Kurmi.

But the Taraba Justice Initiative wondered that other than roll out drums to celebrate the elevation of justice Galinje as any right thinking people could do, some gang of rabble rousers in Kurmi local government where Galinje hails from decided to exhibit their dexterity to pull him down at all cost.

“We wish to state unequivocally that these repressive group represent the minute retrogressive elements in Taraba state and should be discountenanced by all right thinking people.

“The public should disregard their action because the good people of Taraba are happy with the appointment of Justice Galinje.

“It is laughable that rather than recoil to their shell to lick their wounds after their failed attempt to foist on the people of Kurmi a man driven by self delusion and blinded ambition as their traditional ruler, the group has resorted to cheap blackmail against Justice Paul Galinje,” the group said.

Auta who maintained that Justice Galinje was eminently qualified and competent to discharge his duties as a Supreme Court Justice advised the group against his appointment not to drag the Justice into the local chieftaincy tussle, but look at the bigger picture of having someone like Galinje from Taraba as Justice of the Supreme Court of the land.

The group described Justice Galinje as a man of impeachable character, integrity and track record of honesty who is known for his firm stand on the path of justice, adding that his appointment as Supreme Court Justice would help in consolidating the ongoing reform in the country’s judicial system.
