An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Friday sentenced a 22-year-old housekeeper, Kennedy George, to five years imprisonment for stealing his employer’s jewellery and cash worth N6.3 million.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. T. Omeyele, convicted George after he changed his plea to guilty after two prosecution witnesses had testified.

Omeyele sentenced George to five years imprisonment without an option of fine.

She sentenced him to two and a half years each on a two-count-charge and held that they should run concurrently.

George was arraigned on June 19, 2015, on charges of conspiracy and stealing.

He had pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Prosecutor, Cpl Cyriacus Osuji, had told the court that the accused and some others at large committed the offences between Feb. 6, 2015, and June 2015, at No. 3A, Iron Bar St., Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
