IPAC mourns late Lagos chief Imam

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Lagos State Chapter, on Monday described the death of Alhaji Garba Akinola, the Chief Imam of Lagos, as a huge loss.

Our correspondent reports that Akinola died on Sunday at the age of 80.

He has been buried according to Islamic rites.

The state Public Relations Officer of IPAC, Malam Shakirudeen Olofin, said in a statement in Lagos that the deceased was a forthright religious leader.

He said that Akinola uplifted members of his congregation spiritually and gave helpful advice to leaders.

“We commiserate with the Muslim community and indeed all residents of the state for this loss.

“We pray that Allah should grant his soul peaceful repose.

“May He also grant those he left behind the fortitude to bear the big loss,’’ he said.
