'Lagos @50' celebrations : Terra Kulture to entertain tourists with stage play, others, says boss

Terra Kulture has concluded arrangements aimed at entertaining foreign guests, visitors and tourists with stage plays and other fun-filled activities during the 50 days that `Lagos @ 50’ anniversary would last.

Its Managing Director (MD), Mrs Bolanle Austen-Peters, told our reporter on Monday in Lagos that the stage plays would include: “Wakaa the musical’’ and a three-day Broadway Musical Concert tagged `Fela,’ at the National Theatre in Iganmu..

It was reported that this special musical play produced and directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters would hold at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

It was also reported that the activities marking 50 years of the creation of Lagos State from the defunct Western Region on May 27, 1967 would start on April 8.

According to Austen -Peters, other activities that will feature during the period are : boat regattas in Epe, Badagry and Lagos Island.

The celebration would also features: Jazz meets Fashion, Event/Grammy awards to winning Jazz artistes, a special workers’ day celebration at the Agege Stadium, Lagos Carnival, Eyo Festival, she said.

Austen-Peters said that the idea was to enhance the cultural heritage of the state and advance the future of the Nigeria art, entertainment and the creative industry to the world.

She said that this would be possible when Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, creativity and art potential are showcased to the world.

She said that the Terra Kulture theatre arena would serve as one of the centers where several stage plays and other entertainment activities for the Lagos anniversary would be showcased to the public.

It would be an all-round fun with a series of festivals and events to celebrate the state’s rich cultural heritage.

She advised residents to key into the various events, adding that the anniversary is “a celebration of Lagosians, by Lagosians, for Lagosians.’’
