Landmark Varsity’s Accounting programme receives ACCA’s certification

Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju, the Vice-Chancellor, Landmark University, Omu-Aran in Kwara, says the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) has certified the institution’s B.sc Accounting programme.

Olayanju told our reporter in Omu-Aran on Thursday that the certification was contained in ACCA’s Certification of Exemption letter signed by Mr Allan Hatfield, the Executive Director, Strategy and Development.

The development, he said, took place Oct. 27.

Olayanju disclosed that a letter attached to the certification had stated the exemption of the university’s graduates from 2017/2021 from six of the 14 modules requirement for the ACCA professional courses.

According to him, the letter signed by ACCA’s new Accreditation Officer, Mr Jason Forbes said the exemption relevant to Paper 1-5 and Paper 7 followed their assessment with the cohorts in the institution’s accounting programmes.

He listed other accompanying documents as the ACCA’s official logo as well as recommended usage format by the university.

The vice-chancellor recalled the outstanding performance of Mr Ezekiel Oladiran, the institution’s overall best graduating student, from the Department of Accounting and Finance in the last convocation.

“Oladiran, who at 400 level sat for the December 2016 ACCA examinations and emerged the overall 3rd best in the country, was an indication that the department was operating within a global benchmark; this is in terms of teachings and research,” he said.

He described the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently signed with ACCA by the university was a step in the right direction.

“It is already adding immense value to the high quality education the institution is well known for.”

Olayanju listed the institution’s achievements as its acceptance to the Oracle Academy and signing of MoU with IITA, NASRDA, among others.

He restated the management’s commitment to assisting its graduates to launch them into careers with a stronger employable ability status.

Dr Tony Nwanji, the institution’s Head of Accounting and Finance Department, thanked the management for its support in achieving the ACCA’s certification feat.

“We are not resting on our oars but making frantic efforts to further gain ACCA’s exemption from Paper 6 (Auditing), F8 (Taxation) and F9 (Financial Management).
