Lawmaker wants constituents to unite to attract development

A member representing Ussa, State Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Habila Anderifun has appealed to the people of his constituency to unite and move the Kuteb nation forward.

Habila made the appeal while reacting to the outrage that greeted the recently conducted national convention that produced the new executives of Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria (KYN) in an exclusive interview with journalists on Friday in Jalingo.

The lawmaker who denied the allegation leveled against him that he corroborated with other Kuteb politicians to hijack the cultural association for their selfish interest ahead of 2019 elections said no community can develop through peddling of rumour and unnecessary suspicion.

“I am not a member of KYN or CKS nor neither am I a traditional rural. I am not even joined in the case pending at the state high court, so it’s baseless to drag me into the issue.

“We need to move forward and in the days ahead I will reach out to the newly elected president to call the aggrieved members of our cultural association for a reconciliatory meeting.

“But I do know that this is the first time in the history of our cultural association that election was conducted with all the traditional and spiritual leaders in attendance. It was the most peaceful election the association has ever conducted,” he said.

National President of the Community of Kuteb Students (CKS), Mr. Rimamtanung Ezekiel had in a press statement declared himself interim president of Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, following the disagreement that ensued after a controversial national convention.

Rimamtanung who described the October 29 national convention as a sham accused the lawmaker and other politicians in the area of trying to forcefully take control of the association, describing them as stooges of the state governor, Mr. Darius Ishaku.

Newsverge gathered that the board of trustees led by their chairman, Elder Ibrahim Jauro had on October 28, obtained a court order at the state high court in Jalingo stopping the convention from holding on October the 29.

Elder Jauro in an interview said the association which was founded in 1952  by eminent Kuteb sons is a non partisan association, with sole aim of helping the Kuteb people and advise politicians not to drag it into partisan politics for their personal gains.

It was alleged that the organizers on getting wind of the court order swiftly changed the venue of the convention and mobilize thugs who beat up the bailiff who went to serve them the court order in the morning of the convention date.
