210,504 PVCs ready for collection in Taraba – INEC

A Chairmanship Aspirant under the umbrella of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Peter Ajayi, has implored electorate across Lagos State to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) from all local government secretariats where Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has authoritatively approved as points of collection.

In a statement issued by the Campaign Head of Media and Publicity, Mr Okunade Adekunle, the Aspirant explained that the distribution of the PVCs to electorate by LASIEC is a welcome idea of not disenfranchising eligible voters in choosing who they want to be their Council Chairmen and Councillors in the forthcoming Local government elections in the State.

Ajayi added that the electorate should see the forthcoming local government elections as a means of encouraging grassroot development, stressing that it is through their participation in the electoral process that they can bring about progress at the grassroot.

“Collection of PVCs by the people is one of the major ways of participating in grassroot politics in order to entrench democracy firmly in our nation.

“I want the electorates who are yet to collect their PVCs to go out and collect it because the forthcoming local government election in the state is to determine their fate and future. Grassroot governance is as important as national governance”, said Hon. Ajayi

He called on LASIEC to put everything in place to making ensure that the electorate are not stressed up while they want to collect their PVCs.

He however eulogised the Executive Governor of Lagos, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode and the Members of Lagos State House of Assembly for their rapid constitution of the LASIEC members ahead of the elections, saying that it is an indication that Lagos State is a state to beat in the entrenchment of principle of True Federalism.

“With the constitution of LASIEC by our hardworking Governor Ambode and our lawmakers in the State, it shows the government respects federalism and the functionality of local government in a federal system”, Hon Ajayi concluded.
