Man, 24, docked alleged for stealing 3 phones at Ikeja Computer Village

A 24-year-old man, Kevin Eze, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly snatching three phones worth N220,000 at Computer Village, Ikeja.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, told the court that the accused, and others at large, stole three phones belonging to Linda Okonkwo, Chinenye Azike, and Olamide Idris.

Imhonwa said that the complainants were walking along the market when the accused and his cohorts snatched their phones and escaped with them.

The prosecutor said that the complainants quickly raised alarm and Eze was apprehended while his accomplices escaped with the phones.

He said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Our correspondent reports that Sections 287 and 411 prescribe three and two years imprisonment, respectively.

Eze, who resides in Agege, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O Osunsanmi, granted N50,000 bail to the accused with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Sept. 7 for mention.
