A 25-year-old man, Bayo Abidakun, who allegedly stole a plasma television set and a DVD player worth N20,000, was on Monday charged before an Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

Abidakun, who lives at No. 21, Oresanjo St., Iyana Ilogbo, Ota, pleaded not guilty when arraigned before the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.I Adelaja.

Prosecutor Abdulkareem Mustapha told the court that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 22 at about 5.00 p.m. at Elejigbo Estate, Ota.

According to him, the accused stole a Plasma TV valued at N15,000 and a DVD player valued at N5,000 at the estate.

The offences contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The chief magistrate granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, adding that the sureties must be reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.

She also said the sureties should swear to an affidavit of means and produce an evidence of one year tax payment to Ogun Government.

The case was adjourned to Dec.5 for hearing.
