NAFDAC confiscates over N5m worth of products in Abia

Mr Anikoh Ibrahim, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Coordinator in Niger, says that agency plans to register agro-chemical dealers and retailers in the state for proper supervision.

He made the disclosure in Minna on Tuesday in an interview with our correspondent.

“The agro-dealers in the state are too many; recently, we found out that some of the products they are selling are not certified by NAFDAC.

“It is dangerous to public health by law, so we are making arrangements to register all the agro-chemical dealers and retialers to enable us monitor them,’’ he said.

Ibrahim, who was not categorical on when the exercise would start, said that it would involve both dealers and retailers in the state.

“We want to know the number of agro-chemical dealers and retailers in the state and the type of chemical they are selling,’’ he said.

He said that the measure was to safe guard public health in line with the mandate of the agency.
