NUGA Games: 4 students from BSU, BIU, UNIPORT qualify for Tennis semi-finals

The University of Port Harcourt’s Daniel Odeh and Amos Michael have reached the semi-finals of Tennis event at the ongoing Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) Games.

Also in the event’s semi-finals of the Games at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM), are Ambrose Michael of Benue State University (BSU) and Mohammed Mohammed of Benson Idahosa University, Benin.

It was reported that Mohammed qualified for the semi-finals by beating Babatunde Lasisi of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), 5-3, 4-1, while Odeh floored Tony Obekpa of UAM 4-3, 4-1.

Amos Michael of UNIPORT also beat KumaBulbua of UAM 4-1, 4-2, while Ambrose Michael of BSU fought his way to the stage defeating Walid Alhassan of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, 4-2, 4-2 at the quarter-finals.

It was reported that the men’s Doubles event and Volleyball are still at their preliminaries.

BSU’s Michael told our reporter after his stunning win over Amos Michael of UNIPORT, that he was grateful to God for reaching the semi-finals of the contest.

He expressed optimism that he would win a medal in the event at the end of the contest.
