Ogun govt launches new Health Insurance Scheme

The Ogun State government on Monday, flagged off new health insurance scheme tagged “Araya Scale Up”.

The scheme according to Governor Ibikunle Amosun is to provide affordable healthcare service delivery to residents of the state.

Governor Amosun at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital reiterated the commitment of his administration towards providing the much needed political will to sustain the programme.

Leading the distribution of the card for the scheme, the Governor said that the programme remains free for pregnant women, nursing mothers and the elderly.

However, he explained that other categories of beneficiaries were expected to pay a token of 4,000 Naira to enjoy a full package of the insurance scheme for one year.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye, also urged the beneficiaries to maximise the benefits of the programme.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Mr Femi Akingbade, who represented the Minister of Health, commended the bold initiative by the state government.

He pledged the Federal Government’s continual support for the initiative.
