Ogun honours 62 retired nurses

Ogun State Government has described the 62 Nurses retired from its service as inestimable valuable health care workers that offered their best in the overall development of the health sector in the State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Director, Nursing Services, Mrs Patience Odutayo who disclosed this at the sent-forth ceremony of 62 retired nurses held at the Nurses House, Abiola way, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital said that nurses were selfless health workers who give their best inspite of various challenges confronting them in their working environment.

Nurse Odutayo, in a statement signed by the Hospital Management Board’s Press Officer, Mrs. Gbemisola Ogolo, said that it was noteworthy to indicate that the retirees had given their best and left indelible foot prints on the sand of time in the health sector of Ogun State.

“It is worth pointing out that not all who served left foot prints on the sand of time, but they really do their best and work to the best of their knowledge, no doubt they deserve to be honoured and celebrated”, she said.

Odutayo said retirement was a special period of cessation and rest from one’s usual employment, advising the retirees to use their retirement period to create enabling environment, better relationship with God and also team up with their community leaders in rendering more services to the people.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, the immediate past Director, Nursing Services, Nurse Caroline Oduneye said nursing service was based on honesty and dignity which had been the tools for service improvement in the health sector.

Oduneye advised serving nurses to be dutiful and responsible in discharging their services to people of the State in order to accomplish the present administration’s rebuilding mission in health care delivery system across the State.
