Osun State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Honourable Najeem Salaam has congratulated the Governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on his 59th birthday anniversary.

A statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye said, Aregbesola stewarship has touched lives of the entire people of the state in spite the economic downturn.

Describing the governor as an amazing leader, the Assembly said, with a governor like him, who cares about the welfare of the generality of Osun people with a vibrant zeal, there are better days ahead.

It also pointed out that Ogbeni Aregbesola, is a dogged, committed, diligent and forthright man who would fight hard to ensure the development of his state and the country at large, regardless of the challenges coming his way.

The parliament said, the vigorous effort of Aregbesola to place the state on a high pedestal through series of developmental projects, was a clear testimony to his commitment towards the betterment of the peoples’ lives.

“On your 59th birthday, we in the Osun House of Assembly, salute you, a reputable leader, for the milestones you have attained in the development of our dear state.

“The feats you have achieved are exceptional and unusual even in the face of dwindling resources confronting our state.

“You refused to be discouraged due to the economic downturn, but decided to move on to ensure the development of our state without looking back. That is the quality we respect as a parliament”, the Assembly said

Expressing confidence in the ability of Aregbesola to fight hard and overcome the financial challenges facing the state, the parliament stressed the need for the people to support his administration.

It also charged the governor to remain committed and follow the path of development which his administration has always been committed to.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has begun a six-week recess.

A statement by Oyintiloye said, the recess commences on Monday, May 23 and ends on July 4, but the parliament would reconvene on July 11, 2016.

It noted that the recess would be the first of its kind since the inauguration of the Sixth Assembly on June 2, 2015.

The statement however stresses that, inspite of the recess, the legislators will continue to attend to issue relating to the welfare of their constituents and the development of the state.
