Police nab 10 suspected armed robbers in Kano

Police confirm 29 dead in fresh Kajuru killings

The Police Command in Kano State said it had nabbed 10 suspected armed robbers who had been terrorizing Kano residents.

The command’s spokesman, DSP. Magaji Majiya, made this known in a statement in Kano on Wednesday.

Majiya said the suspects were arrested in different parts of the metropolis by the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) within the last one month.

He said two of the suspects were arrested on Aug. 19, for conspiring with two others now at large to rape a female resident of Hotoro Quarters and robbed the victim of some items.

Majiya listed the areas where the suspects were arrested to include Hotoro Quarters, Dorayi Babba, Emir’s Palace Road around central prison and Rijiyar Zaki, among other.

He said during investigation, the suspects made confessional statements and led detectives to arrest the receiver of stolen goods.

The spokesman said the suspects confessed carrying out various armed robbery operations in the state and stole various amount of money.

Majiya said the items recovered from the suspects were one Ak 47 rifle, one locally made pistol, one Baretta pistol and one pump action rifle.

The others were six round of 9mm live ammunitions, three toy pistols, three motor vehicles, one plasma, nine live catridges, two cutlasses and one iron rod.
