Robbers invade Domino Pizza in Lagos

The Festac branch of Domino’s Pizza came under robbery attack in the early hours of Monday. The armed robbers were said to have made away with some substantial amount of money, laptops, phones and other valuables belonging to the eatery and staff who had worked the night shift.

Domino’s Pizza Festac branch is located on Plot R, 1st Avenue. They are also the owners of Cold Stone Ice cream.

NEWSVERGE gathered that the five-man gang robbers had gained entrance into the premises of the pizza outlet by scaling the fence and breaking into the visitors’ toilet at about half past 3 in the wee hours of Monday. However, the CCTV footage only captured their activities from around 4:30am.

Speaking with our reporter on the incident, one of the sales staff who opted to speak under the condition of anonymity confirmed that the robbers came with matches, knives and woods which they used on the terrified staff numbering about 15.

It was though gathered that the Manager in charge of Domino’s Pizza, simply referred to as Mr Abiodun, was beaten with woods before being coerced to part with about N2 million being the sales made for the night.

On whether the outlet does not have security guards on duty, NEWSVERGE learnt that the security personnel on duty were also inside and were first disarmed by the bandits before carrying out their operations which lasted for more than one hour.

It was also learnt that the robbery gang must have monitored the movements of the police patrol team covering the location as they moved in to operate when the police van left on patrol. The staff confirmed that police patrol team returned to the location few minutes after the robbers had left.

The case has however been reported at the Festac Town Police station where investigations is said to be on to track for the men of the underworld.
