Security: Dambazau urges police cadets on professionalism

Security: Dambazau wants more synergy among military, other security agencies‎

The Minister of Interior, retired, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau has urged cadets at the Police Academy, Kano (POLAC) to take advantage of opportunities at the academy to develop themselves into professional Police officers.‎

‎‎The minister gave the advice at the matriculation ceremony of 182 Cadets of the Fourth Regular course at the Academy in Wudil, Kano.

Mr Ehisienmen Osaigbovo, the Press Secretary to the Minister said this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

Dambazau reiterated the determination of the present administration to reform the Nigeria Police in line with international best practices.

“The cardinal policy of the current administration is centred on security, fighting corruption, and the creation of avenues for gainful employment, to enable Nigeria’s youths utilise their potential in nation building,” he said.

He further urged Commandant of the Academy, the Coordinator, and other Principal Officers to contribute meaningfully toward the advancement of the academy, being the first of its kind in Sub- Sahara Africa.

He also called on the‎ Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to ensure that the academy turns out professionally equipped officers that would be at par with their counterparts globally.

‎The minister pledged government’s support to the continued realization of the vision of the academy, to be a model security training institution in the country.

Dambazau also embarked on a tour of facilities as well as ongoing projects at the academy.

He commended the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for their support for POLAC.

He warned underperforming contractors to buckle up or face sanctions.
