We are suffering, help us, ex-service men beg Buhari

Ex-service men in Nigeria have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue them from their suffering and non-recognition.

They appealed to the President to see himself as part of them by liberating them from hunger and maltreatment.

Osun state Chairman, Nigerian Legion and Deputy Commandant-General, Corps of Commissionaire, Col. Alimi Samotu (Rtd) spoke on behalf of the ex-servicemen at the flagging off of Nigerian Corps of Commissionaire’s at Osun Legion Office in Osogbo, Osun state capital on Monday.

He condemned in totality the way ex-service men were been treated in Nigeria.

Describing the way the ex-service men are being treated as appalling, he said, “We are treated like dogs by the Federal Government as some of us are seriously suffering in silence.

“President Buhari is one of us, he too is aware of our plight, and he knows how to treat us but he (merely) continues promising us.”

While declaring open the eight weeks training of the corps that is taking place at the Military Barrack, Ede, Samotu, urged the trainee to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and the Nigerian Legion.

Samotu said the Corps was organized to provide legal security to both government and private organizations.

The Corps Commander, Ondo State Commandant, Mr. Bola Eludire and the National Training Coordinator, Mr. Obey Oluwole, noted that the new Corps would be working in collaboration with other security personnel to curb criminal activities.

The Corps Commander, National Logistics, Mr. Adeagbo Julius, who represented the National Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Col. Miccah Gayya (Rtd), felicitated with the first batch of the corps in Osun, saying the organization has been in Nigeria constitution since 1962 in which the Nigerian Legion gave birth to in order to fight crime.

According to him, they have already flagged off the corps in about sixteen (16) states of federation while admonishing the new officers to be serious, loyal and committed to their assignments.
