TEDxGbagada 2015 inspires innovative ideas

TEDxGbagada, an initiative focused on inspiring and engaging the community on innovative ideas to change the world, held its inaugural conference on September 19, 2015, at the QuadT Event Centre in Gbagada, Lagos State.

The event featured a series of talks, TED video showings and networking sessions between participants and speakers.

Focusing on the conference theme, “Let There Be Light!” the seven speakers discussed topics that encouraged innovation, passion and change.

The speakers were: Hotels.ng founder, Mark Essien, presidential photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo, seasoned storyteller, Toyin Poju-Oyemade, exceptional entertainer, Bovi Ugboma, creator of the first ever Nigerian fashion doll, Taofick Okoya, sensational singer and songwriter, Timi Dakolo and expert educationist, Dorcas Odeyemi.

“It means a lot to me that this conference turned out the way it did. I am excited that both the speakers and attendees left inspired,” states TEDxGbagada organiser, Yemi Akamo.

“The amazing ideas presented and stories told by the speakers, as well as the obvious excitement of the participants created an experience that achieved our goal of inspiring and engaging the community to cause an outpouring of ideas which will lead to positive change.”

The event also featured performances from Timi Dakolo, who’s popularly known as “The Voice”, and spectacular saxophonist, Tuke Morgan.

TEDxGbagada was supported by Stanbic IBTC, Zen Software Limited, Smile Network Nigeria, Nescafe, Samsung Business Enterprise, Innovate Media, Guardian Newspaper, Pulse.ng, Bishopfotre Studio, Bola Oguntade Photography and Bitpilot Systems.
