Umahi appeals to I-G to suspend operation 'Puff Adder' implementation in Ebonyi

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi, says the government is committed to the construction of Abakaliki metropolitan ring road, and ring roads in other parts of the state.

He listed other parts of the state that would benefit from the project in due course to include: Afikpo, Edda, Akaeze, Ishiagu, Uburu and Isu.

The governor explained that the government would source for loan to execute the project.

Umahi spoke on Friday, during the 2017 Uburu Women Summit, an annual August event, by Uburu women, in Ohaozara Local Government Area.

The theme of the summit is: “Family Values and the Challenges Facing Women in the Development of Uburu.’’

Umahi assured that other roads in the state would be given face-lift and provided with street lights within available resources.

“Every part of Ebony will be developed; we have been working hard to obtain loan for the construction of Abakaliki ring road, which will be extended to the southern parts”, Umahi said.

The governor urged those eligible to register during the on-going voter registration to do so, as the card is the power to elect candidates of one’s choice.

The governor’s wife, Mrs Rachael Umahi, who also spoke, urged the women to ensure they obtain their voter cards.

She commended Uburu women who came back for the summit, adding that the event would boost the socio-economic development of Uburu.

“I am very happy with the response of Uburu women to the summit, which brought us together again in peace,” she added.

Prof. Paul Ajah, who was the chairman of the occasion, commended the governor’s wife for empowering women through her pet project, Family Succour and Upliftment Foundation.
