Under-17 WC Qualifier: Nigeria’s Flamingoes rout Namibia

The Nigerian women’s Under-17 team, the Flamingoes, on Saturday thrashed their Namibian counterparts 4-0 at the Abuja National Stadium in a 2016 Fifa Women’s Under-17 World Cup qualifier.

A brace from Rasheedat Ajibade and one each from Cynthia Aku and Peace Efih gave Nigeria a resounding victory to take into the second leg of the 2016 Fifa Women Under-17 World Cup qualifiers.

After a couple of missed chances, Nigeria eventually got their goal when Ajibade poked home in the 13th minute of the game to give the Flamingoes a 1-0 advantage.

Aku put Nigeria 2-0 up in the 37th minute before Efih’s 30 yard effort gave Nigeria a comfortable lead.

Ajibade got her brace in the 67th minute to complete the rout and to give Nigeria a good lead going into the second leg as they chase a slot at Jordan 2016.

Bala Nkiyu and his wards will play the second leg in Windhoek in two weeks’ time.
