Unilorin explains suspension of allowances to staff

The University of Ilorin says it will soon commence the award of doctorate degree in pharmacy (PharmD) at the institution.

Prof. AbdulKarim Agunu, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the university, disclosed this at the induction of new students on Tuesday in Ilorin.

Agunu said that the doctorate programme had been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN).

“The Senate of the university has also approved the instant take-off of the programme, making it the second institution in Nigeria to offer the programme,” he said.

The dean added that the faculty would not relent in its effort to produce the best pharmacists in the country and the world at large.

Our correspondent reports that the University of Benin is the only institution offering doctorate degree in Pharmacy since 2001.
