Easter: Police deploys 1,900 personnel in Niger - CP

The Nigerian Police Force has explained why it’s sealed off venue of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

Donald Amunah, the Police Public Relations Officer, who was a guest on a television programme explained that the police got conflicting orders and as a neutral body they have to take charge, he also added that a court order was given to the Inspector General of Police in Abuja.

“The situation is that we have conflicting orders, the IG has been served a court order in Abuja, so we have to obey the court order.

“If this court order has to be obeyed, what do we do about the venue? We take control of the venue to avoid two worrying parties conflicting, to protect lives and properties in the state” Amunah explained.

The Police PRO further explained that since there are two conflicting court orders, as a force they have to take charge of the venue to avoid conflicts, protect lives and properties.
