Speaking on behalf of the state government, the State Head of Service, Patrick Origho said if staff of the federal government serving in the state, could tackle the issue of accommodation and its allied challenges, then they would be able to discharge their duties more effectively and efficiently.

Origho was speaking in Asaba, when he played host to members of the Committee of Heads of Federal Government Establishments in the state (CO-HEADS), Origho disclosed that the state government was willing to partner with all federal government establishments in the state, noting that such partnership would engender a human capital development that will be mutually beneficial to governments, at the two levels, as well as the entire citizenry.

Origho, who was responding to the request of the CO-HEADS on adequate land allocations among others, noted that the state government does not discriminate against persons or groups in areas of land allocation, adding, however, that it would be more beneficial and cost effective should the federal staff get such allocations as a group.

He opined that the housing estate, when established, would woo individuals who will speed up infrastructural development in the area where the estate is established, revealing that the state government was considering an effective way in which it will construct a similar housing estate for public and civil servants in its employ.

His words: “The state does not discriminate, in any way, on who is supposed to get land; it is not compulsory that you should be an indigene of the state before you can get land allocations here but, we give it to whoever deserves to have one. As the representatives of the federal government in Delta State, I think you are among the people who should have a land allocation.

“Land, as we all know, is immovable. So, even if we give a portion of it to you, you will not carry it away; rather, you will improve on it. And, when you improve on it, you will be making our landscape better so, I want to assure you that you will be appropriately considered.

“One way to ensure this is that, with the number of federal government establishments that we have in this state, I think you should come together to consider how you can have a housing estate for all your staff because I believe that if you are comfortably housed here, the tendency is that you will give your best to us and things will be better for all of us”.
