The national leadership of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has constituted a three-man disciplinary committee with a mandate to investigate allegations of anti-party activities, and sourcing of funds from other political parties leveled against the suspended Edo state chairman of the party, Elder Godfrey Ehimen.

The leadership crisis rocking the state chapter of party, took a different twist last week when the national chairman, Victor Oye, ordered the immediate suspension of the executive members and consequently put in place a 20-man interim Ad-hoc Election Committee.

Raising from its meeting held at the state campaign headquarters in Benin City, Edo state yesterday where its deliberated on matters relating to the forthcoming governorship election, conduct, utterances and activities of party members which they claimed run foul of the spirit, letters of the party and in line with Article 22 of the party constitution, the ad-hoc committee said the state chairman remain suspended indefinitely pending the outcome of the investigation.

National vice chairman of the party, south- south, Ogbuechi Tony Eboka who addressed newsmen said the party has no intention of fronting for any other political party and re-affirmed that Osaro Onaiwu, the governorship candidate is still contesting the rescheduled poll come Wednesday, September 28th.

Parts of the communiqué issued by the committee reads: “That in line with APGA constitution the state chairman Elder Godfrey Ehimen remain suspended indefinitely from office pending the investigation and report of the allegation against him.’’

‘’That people masquerading as APGA members negotiating and soliciting for fund from political parties for the Edo governorship election are disgruntled and faceless persons looking for bread and butter.’’

Consequently, the party appointed Maxi Emmanuel Ani and Barrister Frank-Gold Oikerhe as interim state chairman and secretary of the party respectively.
