LAPO committed to tackling poverty–MD

Dr Godwin Ehigiamusoe, the founder and Managing Director of Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), says the organisation is committed to tackling poverty in the country.

Ehigiamusoe said this on Friday in Benin at the annual staff merit and long service award of the organisation.

He said that the poverty challenge in the country was enormous and required the commitment of men and women to address its multifaceted manifestations.

Ehigiamusoe attributed the organisation’s exponential growth over the years to the commitment of the staff who had remained professional in their daily conduct.

He said the staff had ensured that the economically active poor in society enjoy the services provided by LAPO.

Ehigiamusoe explained that LAPO was a development-focused organisation committed to helping the poor in overcoming the odds in the ever challenging economic sector in the country through provision of unique financial products and social empowerment.

He also reiterated the organisation’s commitment to helping to boost businesses for SME operators as well as health services delivery.

Ehigiamusoe said the occasion was to celebrate exceedingly diligent staff who rose above challenges and toiled hard to ensure that the organisation lived up to its mission and vision of improving lives.

He disclosed that of the 7,150 members of the organisation nationwide, 407 of them, who demonstrated uncommon commitment and loyalty to the LAPO brand, were chosen for honours in two categories.

According to him, the categories are for those who have put in between 10 and 20 unbroken years of service as well as display of excellent service delivery.

Ehigiamusoe, however, said that in spite of the organisation’s achievements in its more than 20 years of operation, there was still need for members of staff to improve on their skills to ensure flawless service delivery to customers.

Earlier, Sen. Roland Owie, the Chairman of the occasion, had said that there was the need for government at all levels to partner with organisations like LAPO in their determined efforts to fight poverty in the country.
