JOHESU strike suspension: Work yet to resume in Adamawa

Medical and Health workers are yet to resume work in Adamawa after the suspension of the 47 day old strike by the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU).

Our correspondent who visited some of the medical and health facilities reports that virtually all of them remained deserted.

At the Federal Medical Center, services provided were still skeletal, with Doctors, Youth Corps and Nigeria Red Cross members assisting patients.

Mr Mohammed Dodo, Public Relations Officer of the hospital said that the members were yet to be communicated by their executives on the suspension of the strike.

Dodo said that the suspension was towards the end of the week, adding that work would resume on Monday.

At the Specialists’ Hospital Yola, the situation was the same, with Doctors providing skeletal services.

Also at the General Hospital, Numan, the hospital was near deserted as few people were seen around the hospital premises.

Mr Naboth Daniel, Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union , Numan General Hospital branch, said that though the strike was suspended at the national level, they still had some issues to sort out with the state government.

According to him, while some states have resolved to implement 100 per cent of their demand, Adamawa was still implementing 75 per cent.

Our correspondent also visited some of the primary health facilities in the state and discovered that JOHESU members were yet to resume work.
