Bayelsa poll: APC blasts PDP over plans to manipulate supplementary election

As part of preparation ahead the December 5 gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa state, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and the incumbent governor of the state, Hon. Seriake Dickson, has taken his re-election campaign to more communities in the Yenagoa district area.

The area comprises of two major tribes, of the Epie and Attissa people that live along Epie Creek, northeast of Yenagoa.

This is as, the governor gets endorsement of more groups consisting of chiefs, women, elders, youths and over four hundred Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), backing the re-election bid of the governor.

The communities first visited by the campaign team of the governor were Attissa areas from Swali to Ovom, then Onopa, Ikoli to Ogu to Agbura Yenagoa, Bebelibiri, Yenaka, Ikoli, Famgbe, Obogoro, Akaba, and Agbura.

Then the team took a trip to the Epie axis which are from Amarata; namely, Igbogene, Yenegwe, Akenfa, Agudama Epie, Akenpai, Edepie, Okutukutu, Opolo, Biogbolo, Yenizue Gene, Kpansia, Yenizue Epie, Okaka, Ekeki, and Azikoro.

Though the people spoke in their different dialects, the message was clear that the PDP and their candidate had their support.

Speaking at the Swali area, Governor Dickson promised the people that his administration was ready to alleviate their sufferings, adding that since they were the government’s host community more indigene of the area will be appointed into his government.

He promised to construct the long abandoned road leading to the community, noting that he wasn’t happy with what he saw as he was coming to canvass for the people’s mandate.

He emphasized the importance of the Yenagoa areas as he journeyed through the communities, urging them to reject Sylva and the APC in the state, in order not to witness the dark days when the state police were used to maim youths in the state.

“These communities are dear to us, the operation reject Sylva and APC campaign must continue in your communities, everywhere we have gone to the people have reject them, we are tired of the bloodshed, in Yenagoa you’ll be surprised how many of our youths were dead during his tenure as governor. We don’t want it to occur again, on the 5th of December we will work with our PVC’s. we don’t want his deadly police to kill our people again, nobody will come here from Abuja or Lagos to intimidate you, your votes must count.”
