Emir Sanusi tasks corps members on national unity

Election: NYSC distribute mattresses to corps members

The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, has emphasised the need for corps members to use their one year compulsory national service to strengthen existing peace and unity in the country.

The Emir made the call on Wednesday in Kano when he received the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, at his palace.

According to the Emir, ensuring the unity of the nation is one of the major purposes of establishing the scheme.

He also challenged members of the corps to promote engage positively with local people in their places of primary assignment to enhance understanding.

While assuring the scheme of his continued support, the Emir also urged the corps members to respect the culture, religion and tradition of their host communities.

Sanusi advised them to carry everyone along either at their places of primary assignments, host communities or in their normal activities to maintain cordial relationship among different religions.

He also appealed to the host communities in the state to accept the corps members, and help them in any way possible.

The monarch also commended the NYSC DG, and the State Coordinator, Alhaji Ladan Baba, for their efforts toward the success of the scheme.

Earlier in his remarks, Kazaure said the visit was to pay homage to the Emir and inform him on the 2018 annual staff promotion exams holding in Kano.

“The scheme’s 2016 promotion exams was conducted in Plateau State, and that of the 2017 was in Enugu State, and this time around would be conducted here in Kano.’’

The NYSC boss disclosed that the exams would commence today and last for seven days.

Kazaure commended the Emir for his supports to the scheme and corps members posted to the state.
