Our correspondent reports the protesters blocked the NNPC axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu road, thus making it difficult for civil servants to resume for work at the Oke Mosan state secretariat.

It was also reported that the Papalanto-Obada Oko end of the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway was also blocked, thus preventing vehicular movements inbound Abeokuta and outbound Lagos.

The same scenario was witnessed at Pansheke and Camp areas of Abeokuta metropolis where the protesters mounted roadblock and prevented vehicular movements.

It was reported that vehicles travelling from Lagos or other parts of Ogun enroute Abeokuta-Kopabe-Siun-Sagamu expressway had to find alternative routes to the state capital.

Speaking with our correspondent at the NNPC protest ground, Mr Bolaji Amusan, the President of Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPPAN), said that the association supported the protest, saying the police brutality must stop.

“I have traveled to some parts of the world and the youths are well appreciated in those countries.

“The protest is peaceful and any sane person will want to identify with them. Government is aware of the demands of the youth and I want to believe that they will attend to them because there is no nation without the youth.

“We also demand for good governance. Since our generation had refused to do the needful, it is important for us to join the youth of today in their quest for a better nation, “he said.

It was reported that another Nollywood actor, Odunlade Adekola and other celebrities also joined in the protests.

One of the protesters, Wale Olagbenro, said that there should be a change in the way the police system was being run, stressing that the protest was an opportunity for the youth to express their grievances.

He noted that government needed to listen to the youth, as it was important for the country’s socio-economic development.

The actress confirmed that she has suffered violent domestic abuse from her husband, asking why he is bent on ruining her career.

Mercy Aigbe said these in her first public statement since the crisis rocking her marriage began sometimes last week.

Photos of the actress revealing her bloodied and battered face surfaced online last week with allegations that she sustained the career-threatening injuries in the hands of her husband of 10 years.

Throughout that time, the actress remained silent on the issue.

Meanwhile, Lanre Gentry went public via his Instagram page and interviews in some online newspaper, saying the photos making the rounds on the Internet were from movies. He had also denied ever beating the actress, saying she wouldn’t have stayed with him for 10 years if he had been abusing her.

But, Mercy Aigbe decided to come out of the closet on the matter on Friday after her husband said, in one of the interviews he granted, that she had some form of mental illness and that she was rude.

He also accused the actress of infidelity and lack of empathy and care for her parents.

Mercy Aigbe dismissed all of Lanre’s allegations as lies.

She said: “Dear Lanre Gentry,” she began.

“It breaks my heart that I have to do this but as it is you have left me with no choice……I had sleepless night because I just couldn’t comprehend why someone i loved , someone with whom I have a child will be hell bent on destroying me, I just cannot comprehend it……..

“I read with tears in my eyes all the LIES you fabricated against me, LIES you feel will justify your inhumane act, LIES you feel will gain you public sympathy and LIES calculated to bring my person to public opprobrium……..

“You claim ….

(1) I am Mentally Unstable (2) That you have caught me with different men

(3) That I do not take care of my parents (4) That a man rented an apartment for me……….

Mercy Aigbe has secured a restraining order from the court on her husband. She has also begun divorce proceedings on Friday. But Lanre was not present at the Lagos court.

Late Henrietta Kosoko

A Yoruba actor based in Abeokuta, Bolaji Amusan popularly known as Baba Latin, confirmed her death but he did not give details.
When our correspondent called him on the telephone for confirmation, he said, “It is true.”
Toyin Aimakhu, also confirmed her death to our correspondent.
According to reports, the actress slumped at home, and was rushed to the hospital where she died. They has been no official statement from her family.
Henrietta was popular for “Omolade,” “Eleda Teju,” “Boya Lemo” among others.
In her lifetime, Henrietta Kosoko was a native of Delta State. Her native name was Emumejiakpo.
She came into limelight in 1995 following her lead role in the movie “Omolade,” which she was popularly known for.
She was the second wife of Nollywood veteran and former President of Association of Theatre Practitioners of Nigeria (ANTP), Jide Kosoko.
The late actress who grew up in Mushin, started her acting career in the area, and met her husband while on the job.
Before she became an actress in 1995, Henrietta was a professional caterer.
