Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba South had on Wednesday raised a point of order on the floor of the Senate drawing the attention of the Nigerian police and the armed forces on the impending war in Taraba as according to him people were being transported into Taraba State from unknown destinations in trucks.

Shaba Alkali State Commissioner of Police who confirmed the development at a press briefing in Jalingo said the Police were aware of the influx of people in trucks into Taraba and were monitoring the development with all seriousness.

He explained that the people who are coming in trucks were settling in Bali, Wukari and Ibi local government areas of the state.

“We contacted some of them who said they were coming to assist people to harvest their crops. But our investigation revealed that they are a threat to us in Taraba. We have turn a lot of them back because they don’t have a genuine reason of staying in Taraba,” he said.

Shaba also decried increased in the number of KEKE NAPEP operators, saying many of them were without license and registration numbers and operate under the influence of alcohol thus posing a security threat to residents of the state.

“We cannot fold our arms and watch this development, apart from the unregistered once, we have those that are under aged. We shall soon commence clapping on them and impounding their tricycles,” he warned.

The Police Chief announced to the public that following the launch of the Police Central Information System (NCIS), the command requested holders of tinted permit and firearms licenses to revalidate their licenses within three months effective first January, 2016 or face persecution.
