This is contained in the bank’s audited results presented to the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

The gross earnings represent an increase of four per cent when compared with N332 billion posted in the comparative period of 2019.

The bank also proposed an interim dividend of 30k per share for the period under review.

The group’s total deposits grew by 15 per cent to N4.9 trillion, from N4.3 trillion in December 2019.

This, the bank said, was driven by a 41 per cent increase in retail deposits from N1.1 trillion, to close at N1.6 trillion.

The result showed that non-interest income rose to N116 billion from N110 billion achieved in the corresponding period of 2019.

Its earnings per share also increased by 17 per cent to N3.30 in H1 2020, from N2.83 in H1 2019.

Results of the 312,000 candidates that sat for Saturday’s 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) nationwide have been released, says Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The Board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with our reporter on Monday in Lagos.

Benjamin urged all concerned candidates to check their profiles for the results.

According to him, the board is optimistic that the entire exercise will be hitch-free, as it has worked assiduously to ensure that this year’s examination process will be one of the best ever conducted in recent times.

“I want to say that the Board is happy with the conduct of the examination on its first day, Saturday, March 14.

“This is not to say that we did not register one or two technical hitches.

“There is no way anyone can embark on such massive exercise without a few hitches.

“However, the good thing is that, as soon as our attention is drawn to such hitches, we tackle them immediately.

“So, the Board is fully on ground to take on these hitches as they come, but in all, I must tell you, that we are happy with the conduct of the examination so far,’’ he said.

Benjamin assured that the Board would continue to ensure quality service delivery in a bid to give every deserving candidate an opportunity to excel.

It was reported that, in continuation of the exercise, a total of 469, 670 candidates on Monday sat for the examination in various centres across the country.

The JAMB Head of Media and Information said by Tuesday, March 17, such candidates’ results would also be ready.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says candidates are now free to also access the results of their UTME on-line.

The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin stated this in an interview with our reporter on Wednesday night in Lagos.

According to him, already, over 1.5 million candidates that sat for the board’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) had accessed their results, using the result checker code, 55019 as at the time of filing this report.

He said that the board had commenced posting the results to the portal, adding that they were now also free to go on-line, view and print their results.

“Candidates can now check their results on the portal.

“They must first log in their profile and then, click on ‘check UTME Examination Results’, he told our reporter.

The spokesman dismissed rumours that the result checker code (55019) was not functional.

Recall that the board on Saturday, May 11, announced the release of the results.

Over 1.8 million candidates registered for this year’s UTME.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday said that it has yet to release results of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but would do so within the week.

JAMB’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dr Fabian Benjamin in an interview with our reporter in Abuja insists that the results would be officially released “anytime” within the week.

This, he explained was because candidates would expect the results from the first two days of the week but might be disappointed as the board has yet to conclude the process of the exercise.

Benjamin said, “We will not release it today, Monday and will not release it tomorrow, Tuesday.

“What we said was anytime within this week. By implication, we are concluding the screening exercise this week and results can be released anytime within the week.”

Benjamin urged the public to fully comprehend media reports to avoid misconception as the board was committed to ensuring sanity in the system.

Benjamin, earlier said that the 2019 UTME results would be ready anytime from Monday, April 29, after a rigorous process.

He had noted that the board was still screening the results but hopefully, the results would be ready soonest.

The board had earlier stated that it would only release the 2019 UTME results after undergoing thorough screening to identify and apprehend examination cheats.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed candidates who have taken the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) to visit the board’s website for their results.

The Head of Media of the Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, gave the directive at a news conference on Tuesday in Bwari, Abuja.

Benjamin said that the results had been scrutinised and released on its website, www.jamb.org.ng, adding that such candidates were free to visit the Board’s website for their results.

He also explained that the results would be released in batches to enable candidates who have already taken the examination to check them.

It was reported that JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, recently said that unlike the 2017 exercise, the Board would not release the results of the 2018 examinations immediately until after two or three days.

This, he stated, was not because the Board was incapable of releasing them immediately but that results must undergo review and total scrutiny to avoid multiple cancellation of candidates’ results.

The 2018 UTME began on Friday and is scheduled to finish on Saturday.
